USA One Credit Union of Matteson, Illinois, has some competitive savings account rates and money market account rates. Right now the credit union's money market rates are higher than their savings rates.

The best money market account rate is 1.04% with an APY of 1.05% for account balances of $50,000 or more. The best savings account rate is only 0.30 percent for account balances of $20,000 or more. This rate is the highest share savings account rate, the credit union also has a holiday club savings account that has a rate of 1.00% with an APY of 1.00%.

Other tiered share savings account rates include a rate and yield of 0.10% for account balances under $2,000. Balances of $2,000 to $4,999.99 earn a rate and yield of 0.15%, balances of $5,000 to $9,999.99 earn a rate and yield of 0.20% and balances of $10,000 to $19,999.99 earn a rate and yield of 0.25%.

Now for the better money market account rates. MMA balances of $2,000 to $9,999.99 earn a rate and yield of 0.60%. That rate is four times their savings rate for a similar account balance. MMA balances of $10,000 to $19,999.99 earn a rate and yield of 0.75%. MMA balances of $20,000 to $49,999.99 earn a rate and yield of 0.90%.

If you're thinking about opening a savings account or money market account at USA One Credit Union you'll have to join the credit union. Frankly, how much higher money rates are over savings rates it should be a no brain-er for you and just open a MMA.
