We recently wrote a review of share certificate (CD rates) at Government Printing Office Federal Credit Union (GPOFCU) and noticed the credit union's other deposit and transaction accounts also have some of the best rates around. For example, the highest savings account rate on account balances of $25,000 or more is currently at 0.75 percent.

That rate is one of the best savings account rates available at any bank or credit union and is a lot higher than the current FDIC national average savings rate of 0.10 percent. The other savings rates which are tiered aren't the best savings rates around but are better than the national averages.

GPOFCU Savings Account Rates (Share Rates)

Current share savings rates on account balances of $2,500 - $24,999.99 have a rate of 0.55 percent with an APY of 0.55 percent. Savings rates with account balances of $10 - $2,499.99 earn a savings interest rate of 0.40 percent with an APY of .040 percent.

GPOFCU Starter Investor Savings Account

GPOFCU also offers Starter Investor accounts for the young ones who are just starting out saving the account is like a student savings account. The current savings rate is at 0.50 percent.

GPOFCU Christmas Club Account and Vacation Club Account

Christmas Club Account and Vacation Club Account which all have a current savings account rate of 0.50 percent with an APY of 0.50 percent.

GPOFCU IRA Savings Account

Right now the highest savings rate offered by this credit union is on their IRA savings account. The current IRA savings account rate is going for 1.45 percent with an APY of 1.46 percent. That has to be the best IRA savings account rate available right now.

GPOFCU Money Market Account

In addition to savings accounts GPOFCU also offers tiered money market accounts that have money market account rates slightly higher than the savings rates.

Current money market account rates for account balances of $2,500 - $9,999.99 earn a rate of 0.60 percent with an APY of 0.602 percent. MMA account rates for account balances of $10,000 - $24,999.99 are going for 0.85 percent with an APY of 0.854 percent. Account balances of $25,00+ earn a rate of 1.15 percent with an APY of 1.157 percent.

Last and definitely least as far as the interest rate is concerned is the Share Draft Checking Account. The current checking account rate is at 0.25 percent with an APY of 0.25 percent. Rates change all the time so you can check on current GPOFCU rates by going to the credit union's website here: GPOFCU Savings Account Rates.
