Current mortgage rates are mixed a positive housing price report is released and a negative consumer confidence report is released this morning. Today's mortgage rates on 30 year home loans are averaging 4.33%, an increase from yesterday's average 30 year mortgage rate of 4.31%. Mortgage rates today on 15 year mortgage loans are averaging 3.53%, down from yesterday’s average 15 year mortgage rate of 3.58%.

Low current mortgage rates might finally be bringing home buyers back into the market. The Standard & Poor's/Case-Shiller home-price index that home prices increased in June from May in 19 of the 20 cities tracked by the index. Prices rose 3.6 percent in the April-June quarter from the previous quarter.

On the flipside of economic news and a future indicator of the economy's health a report showing consumer confidence tumbled in August to its lowest level in more than two years because of the fallout from political wrangling over a budget deal took its toll on consumers. The Conference Board’s index slumped to 44.5, the weakest since April 2009, from a revised 59.2 reading in July.

Mortgage rates currently on jumbo mortgage loans increased today. Current 30 year jumbo mortgage rates are averaging 4.69%, up from yesterday’s average 30 year jumbo interest rate of 4.68%.

Today's mortgage rates on 15 year jumbo loans are averaging 3.97%, up from yesterday’s average 15 year jumbo mortgage rate of 3.95%.

Adjustable mortgage rates today also mixed compared to yesterday. Conforming 5 year adjustable mortgage rates are averaging 3.07%, a decrease yesterday’s average 5 year adjustable mortgage rate of 3.10%.

Jumbo adjustable mortgage rates on 5 year jumbo mortgage loans are averaging 3.24%, down from an average 5 year jumbo mortgage rate of 3.30% yesterday.
